All is Well

My parents arrived last night from Montana, just in case the monkey makes an early appearance. Today was my last NST at Stanford. Everything was fine, and my mom even got a 30 second peek at the little guy via ultrasound. My last check-up is on Thursday afternoon.

A Long Day at Stanford

Tuesday is our regular check-up day, with both a non-stress test (NST) at the hospital and a visit to the OB. Today we also had our car seat inspection scheduled. (The hospital won't let you take your newborn home unless your car seat installation has been inspected) The NST showed some contractions, which became much stronger during the car seat inspection. By the time I got to the OB clinic, they sent me right back to the hospital for more monitoring. The contractions did stop, and they let me come home finally! Long day, but at least I get to sleep in my own bed tonight :•)

As a bonus, my friend Katie and her daughter were at the same hospital for a treatment that takes many hours, so I got to sneak a visit in with them!

Will we make it to the 18th??? Only The Shadow knows...

Happy 4th of July!

We discovered that fireworks are a little too loud, or perhaps too much percussion, for the little guy. He was NOT happy about it, and started kicking wildly. Henry got a pillow from the couch and we covered the monkey's home with it. He settled down and let us watch the rest of the excellent show. I am sure he will like the fireworks more next year!

A Quick update on the Mom-to-Be

Although the headache was not gone this morning, Lisa did not return to
the hospital. She slept and slept, and finally it is down to a mere
annoyance. Yahoo!

A Dry Run 6/30/2011

Hi all,

Henry & Lisa had a little dry-run to the hospital tonight. Dr. Aziz sent Lisa off
to be evaluated because she had a terrible headache that lasted all day.
This can be a sign of pre-eclampsia, which the docs are on the lookout for.

Dr. Aziz had my labs rushed through, and they were fine. Lisa's blood pressure
was on the low side, which normally would not be an issue. However,
since it has been on the high side, it represented a drop by almost
half. This can cause a headache, but not necessarily. They tested the
baby, and he was fine and happy and very active. The on-call high risk
OB decided to give me medication to get rid of the headache.

A dose of Vicodin that normally puts Lisa on the floor only took the
edge off the pain. The next step would be a shot of morphine. With
the Vicodin in her system, Lisa said she could most likely sleep so they
agreed to let her go home. If the headache is not gone when she wakes up,
it is back to labor and delivery for more meds.
